When the Whisk Breaks and the Beads Scatter: Managing the Chaos

When the Whisk Breaks and the Beads Scatter: Managing the Chaos

If you saw my studio today, you'd probably think a very stylish hurricane had passed through. There are sample links from the Continuum pieces on one side, and a list of low GI flours for a new Natural Nibbles recipe on the other.

Being a multi-hyphenate—a Mother, a Wife, a Chef, a Jeweller, and a Copywriter—is a beautiful, exhausting 'ensemble' performance. Sometimes people ask me how I 'have it all.' The secret? I don't. I just have a very good sense of what to focus on in the moment.

Some days are for the precision of jewellery; some days are for the warmth of the kitchen. Some days are for both, and some days are for neither because the violin bag got left at school and now we're doing an emergency dash across Milton Keynes.

I've learned that the 'chaos' is actually where the best ideas come from. That 'mistake' with a wire wrap often becomes a signature design. The shattered pieces you returned to me to fix turn into a golden kintsugi moment. The 'oops' in the kitchen becomes a new favourite treat.

If your life feels a bit chaotic right now, just remember: you're not failing. You're just in the middle of a very exciting rehearsal.
