How to Wear Statement Jewellery Without Feeling Like You're Wearing a Costume

One of the biggest 'backstage' fears I hear from women is: 'Patricia, I love that piece, but where would I actually wear it? Is it too much?'

Here's a secret from my Theatre Arts days: The costume only wears the actor if the actor doesn't own the role.

If you're wearing the Azure Garden Set or a multi-strand suite, you don't need to wait for a gala. The 'understated luxury' trick is all about contrast.

The 'Power' Move: Pair a bold, architectural necklace with a simple white tee and jeans. The necklace is the 'Lead Role,' the outfit is the 'Supporting Cast.'

The 'Boardroom' Move: Let a Midnight Monarch bracelet peek out from under a sharp blazer. It's a whisper of personality in a room full of shouting.

The 'School Run' Move: Stack three delicate rings on one hand while you're in trainers and a jumper. It's the visual equivalent of saying, 'I contain multitudes.'

The truth is, statement jewellery doesn't need a special occasion. It creates one.

The clocks spring forward this Sunday. Consider it your official permission to spring forward in your style, too. You are allowed to be 'extra' on a Tuesday morning. In fact, I highly recommend it.
