Did I Just Drop a Bead in the Batter?

Did I Just Drop a Bead in the Batter?

I have a confession to make. There are days when I look at a bowl of low-sugar pastry dough and think, 'That would look lovely with a Rose Garden charm on top.'

Transitioning from a Diploma de Patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu and a Master's Degree in Culinary Innovation & Management at Birkbeck University of London to handcrafting 304 stainless steel jewellery means my brain is constantly toggling between 'whisk' and 'wire cutters.' I am a woman of two worlds, both based right here in Milton Keynes.

By morning, I'm the founder of Natural Nibbles Pastries, obsessing over how to make a diabetic-friendly pastry taste like a standing ovation. By afternoon, I'm at my bench for Iris By Hazel, ensuring every glistening stone is set with the precision of a theatrical director.

People ask me, 'Patricia, how do you balance it?' The honest answer? Some days I don't. Some days the flour wins, and some days the pliers win. But here's what I've learned: the art of juggling multiple identities isn't about perfect balance—it's about showing up fully in each moment.

Sound familiar? Whether you're a mother, a creative, a professional, or all three at once, you know this dance. You're the pastry chef and the jeweller. The CEO and the school-run coordinator. The visionary and the one wiping down counters at midnight.

With Mother's Day approaching (15th March), I've been thinking about the women who master this double—or triple—life daily. The ones who deserve to be celebrated not just for what they do, but for who they are across all those roles.

Whether you're treating yourself or honoring someone who plays every part beautifully, my pieces are designed for the multidimensional woman. The one who can have flour on her nose and spectacular earrings—and call it a very productive day.

Because you're not just one thing. And neither is she.
